Summer 2012 Classes
2012-2013 Classes
Level 7
“Level 7” is for dancers who have completed Level 6 and, for the ballerinas, have achieved a certain level of proficiency on pointe. For details regarding pointe approval, please select the corresponding tab on the website.
Level 7 classes are very challenging & are by approval only. Class time is focused on developing correct technique & skills which will enable the dancers to execute some difficult combinations. Level 7 ballet classes are structured following a curriculum requiring the dancers to attend four ballet classes per week. It is imperative to have pointe dancers at this level in ballet multiple times per week. The repetition is what develops proficient technique and prevents potential injury. Dancers who do not want to focus on ballet still need to take ballet classes. It really an essential part of all dance training. Yes, it is slow and methodical. Yes, it develops the best dancers!! Dancers who don’t take ballet are ALWAYS behind the other dancers in the class. It may never be your personal favorite, but do yourself a favor - take ballet and consider everything else an elective. You’ll be glad you did!
Classes are suitable for boys and girls. If you’re interested in getting your family in shape, the Family Zumba, the Youth Zumba, or the Tappin’ Together may be perfect for you.
August through December is spent teaching a skill set for the dancers to develop technique & muscle memory. Consistent attendance is very important. January through April is spent reinforcing the skill set and using the tools they have learned to begin working on choreography. May is dedicated to rehearsal and photos which take place during class time. At the end of the dance season the Level 7 dancers will present a dance for each class they have been enrolled in. The exception to this are the ballet/pointe class. Not every single ballet class will have a separate dance. The Worship Outreach Recital is held during the month of May or June. Separate costume purchase and matching attire is required for each dance. The dancers may also be in more than one show and ticket purchase is required for each show.
For additional performance opportunities, families may want to consider auditioning for The Impact Dance Company’s, or joining the new “Flashmob & Festival Team”. Auditioning does not guarantee placement. Additional fees are incurred by those selected. More information about The Impact Dance Company and The Impact Dance Crew can be found on the corresponding website page or by calling the Impact office.
