2012-2013 Classes

Level 2B

“Level 2-B” is for dancers who have completed Level 2-A.    At Level 2-B dancers do not take combination classes.  Each class focuses on one dance style.

Level 2-B ballet classes are our “introductory-pointe” level, focusing on developing correct technique & skills which will enable the young ladies to eventually be able to take pointe.  Pointe is the art of dancing on the ends of their toes.  Level 2-B ballet classes are structured following a curriculum requiring the dancers to attend two ballet classes per week.  It is imperative to have the dancers in ballet more than once per week once they reach this skill set.  The repetition is what develops proficient technique.  Think of it this way, to maintain a certain skill set it’s reasonable for a dancer to take one class per week, however dancers who have a desire to improve & advance must be in class a minimum of twice per week.  While it is almost impossible to require that every student take ballet, we certainly would if we could because ballet is essential to all dance training. Yes, it is slow and methodical. Yes, it develops the best dancers!! Dancers who don’t take ballet are ALWAYS behind the other dancers in the class. It may never be your personal favorite, but do yourself a favor - take ballet and consider everything else an elective. You’ll be glad you did!

Classes are suitable for boys and girls.  If you’re interested in getting your family in shape, the Family Zumba, the Youth Zumba, or the Tappin’ Together may be perfect for you.

August through December is spent teaching a skill set for the dancers to develop technique & muscle memory. Consistent attendance is very important. January through April is spent reinforcing the skill set and using the tools they have learned to begin working on choreography. May is dedicated to rehearsal and photos which take place during class time. At the end of the dance season the Level 2-B dancers will present a dance for each class they have been enrolled in.  For the ballet classes, the Monday/Wednesday classes have the same teacher & the same costume & the same dance, the Tuesday/Thursday classes have the same teacher & the same costume & the same dance.  Students who opt for a different combination of classes, ie: Mon/Thur, will incur two costume fees & will be in two dancers.  The Worship Outreach Recital is held during the month of May or June. Separate costume purchase and matching attire is required for each dance. The dancers may also be in more than one show and ticket purchase is required for each show.

For additional performance opportunities, families may want to consider auditioning for The Impact Dance Company’s, or joining the new “Flashmob & Festival Team”.  Auditioning does not guarantee placement. Additional fees are incurred by those selected.  More information about The Impact Dance Company and The Impact Dance Crew can be found on the corresponding website page or by calling the Impact office.
